Severed Head Cache (Gander) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cache-tech: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have had no contact with the cache owner since my last note and there has been no notes posted to the cache page in that time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache.
When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link (Mine) across the top and then click on this cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future. If you do not plan on replacing/repairing your cache, please CITO any remains returning the site to the original state before you placed your cache.

Thanks for your understanding,
Cache-tech

Geocache Description:

Cache located at T'Railway in Gander.

When I was at university in Halifax, a group of students living off campus invited me to a party, aptly named the Severed Head Bash. You were asked to bring a cropped photo of your head. Upon arrival, the host took me to an odd room in the basement. On the wall were hundreds of old black and white photos of people, there heads cut in perfect circles. Hence, the Severed Head bash, which lends it name to the cache.

The cache is located on the T'Railway off Gander Bay Road (now McGee Avenue, I believe.) It's ideal for mountain bike, cross-country ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, ATV, etc. You can also walk to it, but it's about a six-kilometre return hike, and the T'Railway isn't the most scenic of journeys. The best starting point is off the trail (ample parking available) which is just past Carr Crescent, on the left.

The cache is hidden in what could be Frodo's hobbit hole. Remember, it's an all-season cache, and I don't believe in people digging through snow (Gander is Canada's snowiest city)so this should guide your search efforts. In all, it should be an extremely easy find. If anyone can reconfigure the cache better without altering the coordinates, they are welcome to do so.

I ask that you bring either a cut out circle of your head, or the head of someone significant to you. I got things started by placing the heads of health grill king and former heavyweight champion George Foreman and turbo-nerd Napoleon Dynamite. I included a glue stick so you can fasten your head to the book as well, who knows if this will work ... perhaps as our Severed Head collection grows, cachers could post a digital photo of the collage with their find.

Have fun.
