Way of the Battle Letterbox Hybrid
Cookster: I have replaced this cache before and as it seems to be a drinking spot now for locals I feel it will continue to get muggled. Time for it to go. I may place another cache in the area if the opportunity arises.

The battle of Kilsyth in 1645 was one part of an ongoing conflict between the Royalists and the Covenanters which affected 17th century Scotland.
It was not the final battle of a series, nor was its victors to continue to thrive, but it was important. It was fought just outside Kilsyth to the north west of the town and it is thought about 6000 of the participants died either on the field or in the following days.
The two generals who opposed each other on behalf of their causes were James Graham, 5th Earl and 1st Marquis of Montrose for the Royalists General William Ballie.
The Marquis of Montrose led his Royalist force of Highlanders and Irish to another victory in Kilysth, leaving him in control of much of Scotland.
The walk to the cache will take you along the route where the battle took place and you will pass a small plaque on a wall which commemorates this battle.
