Once long ago, when I still was eleventy-one years old, I was
hiking thru a small forest near my home. I knew a centuries old ent
that lived in this forest named Treebeard. Treebeard was very
giving of himself in that he would give you the shirt, er, the leaf
off of his branch. He used to tell me that if ever I needed
anything for me to come see him. And so I did go see him. But I did
not find him when I wanted to find him, for Treebeard hides.
Treebeard had to be found. Found by me. When I did finally find him
I reminded him what he had said. He told me to speak my wish. I
told him of a treasure that is in my possession. I further told him
that this treasure needs to be hidden. And hidden quickly.
Treebeard told me that he is many years older than I know him to
be. Treebeard also said that he has been in the same location and
that he has been there so long that the ground is not stable and a
hole has appeared underneath him making his foothold now
impossible. Treebeard further told me that he had no other choice
but to fall to one side. He continued to tell me that no soul in
Middle Earth knows of this hole and that this would be a perfect
hiding place for my treasure.
And so the story goes, about a long standing friendship.
Make haste my friend, come and find my treasure and maybe
Treebeard will tell you wonderful stories as only he can tell.
