This cache is located in the Stone Barn State Forest in the backwoods of Cleveland, NY. You will encounter extreme changes in terrain ranging from wet marsh areas to hilly wooded areas to pine forests.NOTE: HUNTING IS PERMITTED IN THIS FORESTED AREA, TAKE PROPER PRECAUTIONS WHEN NEEDED.
NOTE: there are two places to park...parking 1 is technically the main location..at / near the large state Forrest sign..but much easier to park at number 2, a bit further north..[ check pix ]...at least a decent jeep trail will take you in part way..however, if not feeling like a long trek...you may log in BEHIND large tree shown in pix...pill bottle BEHIND this tree..up 5 feet...but state in your log that you did thhis the LAZY? way.! This .50 Cal ammo can is located deep within this forest. The beginning of the hike starts out on a maintained trail but after about 300 yards the trail ends. Be sure to mark waypoints on the way in. You may also find a small stream in your path. There are plenty of land bridges to be found which will allow dry passage over the running water. The cache is near one of the many once used logging trails that can be found all over this forest. The cache contains a "Complete Idiots Guide to Geocaching" for the FTF. Take some time to explore this forest. See if you can find the huge man made rock piles and stone fences located randomly throughout the forest also. Good luck!
