Happy Birthday to Weston Eau Claire Recreational Trail cache! 5 years old! We're adding a "5Y" as a little present to the cache to stand for its brave 5 years of sitting in one spot through rain, sun, wind, and cold just waiting for folks to come along and find it.
This was the very first cache along the trail and it is still in the original spot in the original container. Quite a few folks found this cache as their very first cache. It is one of the first caches placed in the Weston area and I think the first in any Weston park. Maybe this one can last another 5 years?
Cache is located in Weston’s Eau Claire River Recreational Trail. This is a gravel trail open to hiking and biking along the Eau Claire River. There are benches, garbage containers, and trail maps at several points.
There are three entrances to the trail but only one has a parking area- N44 54.275 / W089 32.200 (corrected 8/27- thanks Timberline Echos). This area is located at the North end of Ryan Street from the Schofield Avenue intersection.
Cache is a one-gallon plastic container with screw-on lid.
Note: Because of a large urban deer population the town allows bow hunting in this area. Hunters must be well off the trail- but could certainly be in the area of this hide.
