Geocache Description:

The Ohanapecosh Campground and the Ohanapecosh River are close to this cache, which is located just outside the SE entrance of Mount Rainier National Park.

My family and I have been visiting Mt. Rainier National Park for over 20 years. And our favorite all-time campground is Ohanapecosh. Isn’t that a great word? They say it comes from the Indians of the area and means “standing on the edge”. The Ohanapecosh River runs through the campground. It is swift, clear and very cold. Our son use to jump from the rocks into the river......but he sure got out fast!

During this years visit, I wanted to place a geocache in the area. But as you all know, physical caches are not allowed in National Parks and GC is limiting virtuals. Thus, the cache is just a mile down the road, outside the park entrance gate.

Reception is poor, so coords will be jumpy. So here's help: Go up the little trail SW of entrance sign. Pass a stump and look to your left. It's hidden next to a downed tree. And while in the area, don’t forget to stop at Ohanapecosh Campground and the Visitors Center.
