A flyfishing themed cache in a wild canyon-finding this cache will involve a hike no matter which way you approach
This cache is located near the Horse Crossing trail along East Clear Creek on the Coconino national forest. The cache has a flyfishing theme-original contents were; Fly exchange (fly box filled with handtied flies to trade-please don't take box, just trade a fly.), strike indicators, hy-flote fly dressing, bubble bobber, small utility box for flies, etc, fishing patch, AA batteries, 2 small flashlights, several small compasses, small fly tying kit, logbook with pens and pencil.
This cache can be approached from the west side of the canyon which is a better trail but involves a little bushwacking along the bottom of the canyon, or from the east side of the canyon-the trail is steeper and harder to follow here, but comes out at the bottom of the canyon very close to the cache. See pictures for help finding the trailheads, etc.
Hiking into this canyon involves a drop (and climb out) of approximately 600 feet from 7100 feet elevation on the rims to 6500feet at the bottom. Bring water and use common sense-young kids are capable of doing this hike if they are used to hiking, but hiking back out is fairly strenuous. Bring plenty of water and a snack. Area will be inaccessible during the winter months.
