This is suggested parking for the cache. N44.04.143 W103.16.316 This is not the closest parking but it is a nice walk to final cache.
This is our 1st cache we have hidden. This is a little over a mile round trip from the parking coordinates. Rapid City has a wonderful bike/walking path. This cache is along a small portion of the path. Along the way, during April- July, you may view some baseball/softball games. Parking may be difficult on Saturdays during these months. The first stage will give you coordinates to the final cache. Take the bridge to where Old Storybook Island used to be located. The final cache is located in this area. Beware of mugglers as this is a very busy place.
On June 9, 1972 a devastating flood washed most of this area away. As a result of this flood, 238 people were left dead and another 3,057 people were injured. The total damage was estimated in excess of $160 million. I remember the Rapid City flood like it was yesterday. I just wish I had picures of the Old Storybook Island to share with you.
