Geocache Description:


The best place to park is at N 38° 16.164 W 122° 16.545, at the Formal Gardens, before starting on the River to Ridge trail. You will be crossing the highway (there's a crosswalk).

The Bay Area Ridge Trail and Skyline Parks merge in this wilderness area. It borders the Syar Industries Quarry operations. A nice place to hike, bike or ride your horse. On your hike in, you will see many vistas and sites along the way. This cache is located near the new tank construction site and is well clear of any hazards, and is slightly off trail about 45 feet.

It can get hot out here so bring plenty of water. Bring your camera for some nice vista pics. There is plentiful wildlife in the area too. Watch for horses and mountain bikers. it is a well used trail. Park hours are 0900-1700 hours but the gate is always open. This trail borders the Napa State Hospital for a small portion from the gate entrance about a quarter mile and is well fenced off. Once past this limit, you are in open wilderness.
