A un chilometro da Porto Azzurro,sulla strada per Rio nell’Elba, una diramazione a sinistra conduce alla Madonna di Monserrato. Il santuario, fatto erigere nel 1606 dal governatore spagnolo Pons de Léon, sorge su un’altura solitaria (127 m), nel comprensorio di Monte Castello, da cui si domina un vastissimo panorama. Dal santuario partono alcuni sentieri verso il monte, uno dei quali ripercorre la via dell’antico acquedotto, un tempo utilizzato dai monaci del santuario. Da notare: sul monte spesso si possono osservare le capre selvatiche.
Il mini geocache è una piccola scatola tipo Tupperware con coperchio verde (grazie a Rst82 per la sua manutenzione e per aver inserito un nuovo oggetto).

One Kilometer after Porto Azzurro, on the street for Rio nell’Elba, you can find on the left the street for Madonna di Monserrato. The sanctuary, made in 1606 by Spanish gubernator Pons de Léon, is situated on the top of a lonely pick (127 m), on the Monte Castello area, were you can enjoy for a special panorama. From the church starts some ways for the mountain, a special one among the oldest waterway, used in the past for the church. Notice: on the mountain is easy to see the wild sheeps.
The minigeocache is a small ikea tupperware box with a green lid (thanks to Rst82 for his maintenance and the new tradable inside).
