Geocache Description:

This Cache is for our grandson Brennan. The cache is an ammo can at the Cameron County Little Museum. Permission was granted for placement by the Cameron County Historical Society.

Ever wonder what could be in that little Sears & Roebuck school house that serves as our little museum? Wonder no more, come find out for yourself. Come learn about the history of Cameron County from the humble beginnings to the not so distant past. Even if you've been here before we know you'll want to return again. We make several trips a year down to see it all again, as new items are being added on a regular basis.

Did you know our County was once a booming lumber area? Or that much of the dynamite used for the Panama Canal was made here? Did you know large amounts of coke were produced for the local iron works? Do you remember Sylvania? Come learn about the history of the once thriving business. Learn how they helped win WW2.

Come get to know a few of our native sons including Tom Mix the famous Hollywood film legend And learn more about a native of Emporium four star general Joseph T. McNarny of the united States Army Airforce during WW2.

The Little Museum is open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 PM, from Memorial Day through the end of October. Or by appointment by calling (814) 486-0213. Learn more by visiting their website at www.thelittlemuseum.org

The cache will be available year round, but if possible treat yourself to a visit during operating hours. If your from out of the area and you know when you'll be passing through consider calling for an appointment. If you wish they accept a $1 donation, But it is NOT mandatory. They let anyone in regardless if they donate or not. The museum is staffed by volunteers who are very knowledgable of all the exhibits. If you visit during operating hours make sure you sign the visitor log and tell them Geocaching brought you here. We might even see you there sometime.

Update, the museum is now open on Saturdays 1-4 PM also
