Iron Lilac Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

cassh: This cache has been destroyed by mowing. Worse yet, the small lilac tree which provided the hiding place has been mowed over too. I will archive this cache. Thanks for the nice comments from many geocachers.

Geocache Description:

Two magnetic key holders attached to different pipes along the top of Zorinsky Lake dam each contain information needed to find the actual cache.

This multi-cache has two stages and a final cache. As multi-caches go, it is relatively easy to solve. Each of the two stages is a magnetic key holder with a number written in silver ink inside the key holder. PLEASE AVOID GETTING OR REPLACING THE KEY HOLDER IF MUGGLES ARE TOO CLOSE. The number is an angle heading. By visiting each stage, two lines of sight will be established. The cache is located where the two lines of sight cross.
Stage 1 (orange pipe) coordinates are given above.
Stage 2 coordinates are: N 41º 13.251' W 96° 09.635'
Using the "heading" function of your GPS will allow it to function like a compass IF you are moving. Back away from each pipe about 10 paces then walk toward the pipe, shifting your direction until you are traveling the direction provided in the key holder. Try it a couple of times. Don't forget to concentrate on the view ahead. You will have to keep details of the view in mind when you visit stage 2. The heading angle given by your GPS will vary by ± 5º. Just try to make it average out.

The cache is a green ammo box containg dated color aerial photos of the construction of the dam and the survival of a lilac bush. CAN YOU GUESS WHY THE LILAC HAS SURVIVED? HINTS ARE AROUND THE CACHE.
