The Gospels Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

dignut: Following the last DNF, I've been up to check on The Gospels today, and the final cache has indeed gone missing. It's therefore time for The Gospels to go into retirement. [:(]

Thanks to everyone who's visited The Gospels over the years and made it such a successful multi-cache. I've been really proud of it! [:D]

I've already begun plans for a Gospels II. This will have a modified route, new locations, different micro-caches, and a fiendish puzzle to solve! I'm quite excited about it! [}:)]

Keep an eye on the listings!

Geocache Description:

This cache is a standard ammo box hidden close to Gospel End Common. You will need to find each of the four Disciples before searching for the actual container.

This multi-cache starts just inside the entrance to Baggeridge Country Park. You can park your car within the Park, which will cost you 90p, but there is a very nice tea-room which may be welcome on the way back! Alternatively you can park in one of the residential side streets nearby.

Gospel End Common is the little-known neighbour to Penn Common, and it is a real gem. It was first recorded as heathland in 1775 on a land use map of Staffordshire, and was used by the local community for animal grazing, but also for village fairs with stalls, pony rides, and games. Since the early 19th century the heath was neglected, and was even at one time used as a dump. It became part of Baggeridge Country Park in 1970, and was deregistered as common land in 1981. As you follow the trail you will be treated to some spectacular views; I think it's also one of the best places to watch the sun set in the Black Country.

Matthew and Luke are matchbox-sized or film canisters, Mark and John are MUCH smaller! There is a little bit of awkward terrain, and a very small amount of climbing involved: I wouldn't recommend flip-flops! It's a round trip of just under 4km, and should take fewer than 90 minutes unless you get really stuck! Please use your best stealth tactics retrieving and replacing the caches, and please don't post any spoilers in the logs.
