Geocache Description:

This regular cache is located near the southern summit of the ridge to the west of Seventy Buck Valley. The viewpoint gives nice views of the surrounding area.

Park on the side of the road on the Sibbald Creek Trail (Hwy 68) around 4.3 kms west of the Powderface Trail Junction. From the parking area you have two choices for getting to the cache.

The most direct route is to ascend the ridge directly from the highway. There is no trail (that I could see). Take the most direct route. The lower part of the ridge is quite steep. Total distance from the parking area is around 1.5 kms and 270 m of elevation gain.

The second option is to walk down the valley via the well used forestry road. From the northern end ascend to the northern summit via a steep slope and walk back down the ridge to the cache. Please note that after leaving the forestry road there is little to no discernable trail. After reaching the ridge the path is a nice off trail hike through an open pine forest. This trail is listed in Gillian Daffern's great trail guide "Kananaskis Country Trail Guide - Volume 2", trail number 338. See the guide for more details.

Please make sure you are wearing proper hiking footwear as this is a rough off trail hike. If you are travelling down the valley carry a topographic map and a compass as routefinding is required.

Seventy Buck Valley was so named when P. Copithorne lost his wallet in the valley containing $70. The wallet was never found.
