Geocache Description:

Cache is located at Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Maine. Take Ocean Avenue off Rt. 77 to get to the beach.

Please put container back exactly as you found it. Area is fairly well traveled by fishermen and beachcombers in the summer.

Parking is not available on Ocean Avenue and other streets near the beach from April 1st to October 1st. If you attempt to find the cache during this timeframe, there is a parking lot at N 43 33.767 W070 16.895 (about .2 mile from the beach) but cost is $10. You could also park for free along Rt. 77 at areas that are not posted with "No Parking" signs and walk down to the beach. (approximately 1 mile) If you search for the cache during the off season (October 2nd through end of March), you can proceed to the end of Ocean Avenue and park very close to the beach.

Do not attempt this cache at high tide! Cache search should only be attempted at low tide, please consult tide chart at www.maineharbors.com, click on Southern ME and then Portland.

Walk to the cache is along sand and rocky ledges. Ledges may be slippery, use caution. Climbing on the rocky ledges may not be appropriate for smaller children.

Please be aware of others that might be in the area when you find and replace the cache, there are often fishermen or beachcombers close by. Be careful to return the cache to the same location that you found it.
