Burial site for some of the "ButterBox Babies" and the owner of the infamous "Ideal Maternity Home", where hundreds of babies were left to die.
Easy to find at side of dirt road into small Cemetery. Leave your "Guardian Angel" for the lost babies.

Rather that a swap cache, I thought it would be fun to see how many "Guardian Angels" we can collect here, to help watch over the 100 plus lost souls that were burried in this area. I started it off with a small childs doll.
*** There is also a special permanent "discoverable" Guardian Angel placed in the cache that you can log as discovered if you note the tracking number that is attached to it. (please ensure it is left in the cache too)

This cache will introduce you to the sad tale of good intentions gone wrong, when tempted by financial greed.
Lila Gladys Young operated the "Ideal Maternity Home" in Chester, as a home for un-wed mothers and adoption agency, in 1920-1945. There is a memorial located in nearby Chester (44 33.715N 064 13.342W), on the property which is ajacent to the original location of the maternity home. The home burned down in 1962 but was subsequently rebuilt more modestly.
During its operation, hundreds of "un-marketable" babies were left to die and were burried in the property near the home, and then later on the family property ajacent to THIS graveyard!
On June 5, 1946, she and her husband were convicted of illegally selling babies to four American couples, fined a total of $428.
The cache is a green ammo box, with a log book and pencil, placed in the wooded area as you drive into the cemetery. It is located less than two Meters into the grove of trees from the edge of the dirt road. The dirt road is actually between two cemetery's visible from the paved road. (It is NOT the one with the white posts) The dirt road runs up the edge of the north side of the large cemetery.
I became aware of this story because a co-worker of my wife is a "survivor". There are various resources on the web sites below for other survivors to connect with each other. In my wandering, I happend to encounter a woman who had Lila as her school teacher, and recalled her as being a very gentle, caring, giving kind of person. I can only guess that the lure of financial sucess led to their commiting these dasterdly deeds.
