All Things Turkish Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Darsantre: No longer a resident of Turkey and not being able to maintain this cache on my own or with assistance, it's time to archive this one. It had a good, almost three year run and provided lots of challenges, frustration, and fun for all involved!

Te$ekkür ederiz,
Darsantre

Geocache Description:

The coordinates given for this cache are NOT the final coordinates! You must solve the clues to find the final coordinates for this cache.

Hos geldiniz! Welcome to my ‘All Things Turkish’ cache. Acquire something Turkish that I’ve brought back from Turkey. As the cache is found again and again (Inshallah!), the contents will be exchanged for non-Turkish items, however, if possible, please try to trade with an unusual, international item.

Now the challenge of finding this cache! Since these items have come a long way, it’s not going to be easy to acquire one of them. The cache is hidden at:

N 33° FD.EAF'
W 111° CB.AAB'

Stage 1 (virtual): Go to N 33° 21.809’, W 111° 54.781’ to find the Turkish word for a famous, ancient Biblical city located on the Aegean coast. Once you have the information, find out what that name is in English and be certain to spell it correctly.

Stage 2 (virtual): Go to N 33° 21.802’, W 111° 55.613’ to find the name of a famous ancient Roman. Then think about how this famous Roman communicated with others. Use this information to also figure out stage 3.

Stage 3 (virtual): Go to N 33° 24.922’, W 111° 55.032’ to find the name of a populous Turkish city as the keyword to complete the URL http://groups.msn.com/AllThingsTurkishstage3_____?_____/ where you can obtain the clues; then solve to figure out the final coordinates.

Stage 4 (the stash!): Put all this info together and go after your prize! The FTF gets a special Turkish treat. You may email me if you wish to have confirmation before going after the final coordinates. Also, be wary of local transient activity as evidence of their presence has been sighted in the vicinity.

Iyi eglenceler ve hayirli olsun/Have fun and may you be blessed!

Note: A special thanks to Larry of Team "Wyle E" and Denny of Tres Hombres for the inspiration on this puzzle.
