BACKGROUND:
The #97 Sharpie Ford, driven by defending Nextel Cup Champion
Kurt Busch, has become a common sight running up front at
racetracks across the country. For awhile, though, Busch found
himself receiving more boos than anyone but Jeff Gordon, especially
after an infamous postrace
altercation with Jimmy Spencer. But after tying up his first
championship in 2004 -- and toning down his overly-arrogant
personality -- Busch has matured into an ambassador of the sport
and has picked up many new fans along the way. Although he
currently sits in 7th in points, he traditionally enjoys a surge
late in the season, so odds are good he'll make another strong run
in the NASCSAR's Chase For The Cup.
THE CACHE:
First things first: you'll find the best (although not
the nearest) parking at the coordinates listed below. Then
you'll be heading uphill to a spot that looks to have been logged
around forty years ago. Nature has done a pretty good job of
reclaiming the area, however. As you approach the cache site you'll
notice only two reminders of long-ago human activity: a downed
barb-wire fence and the barely-discernable traces of an old logging
road.
You'll be loong for a camouflaged Lock&Lock
container. Inside you'll find a wide assortment of Sharpie pens in
all colors and styles, including the new
Sharpie Retractable. Pick out your favorite and use it to sign
the logbook. Satellite reception seemed pretty spott under the tall
trees, so I've included a pretty blatant hint if you need it. Have
fun!
