Located just off a hiking trail with a few small hills at an elevation of 1972 feet.
This cache is now a container made out of plumbing parts and is placed just off a hiking trail on the shores of Whitefish Lake which is located in the Porcupine Provincial Forest northwest of Swan River, Manitoba. This is a lake I spent many summer days camping, swimming and fishing at when I lived in Swan River. Whitefish Lake is located in a Manitoba Provincial Park and a vehicle park pass is required to visit. The park passes can be picked up at almost any gas station in Manitoba and is valid for the entire year, Jan 1 to Dec 31. Another way to the cache is to turn off on Lakeview Drive and then turn right on Park Drive. Follow the road to the end and a short hike you are right at the cache. The coordinates for the start of the trail are N52 19.964 W 101 35.362, it is a short hike from there to the cache but the trail goes on further and the views of the lake are excellent. The trail will take you along the edge of the lake in front of the new cabin development and the first for Whitefish Lake. In the past this was just a place for camping, tenting and picnics. There no power in the campground, no telephones or store at this lake. It is nice to have a place like this to go camping since is is not commercialized, it is very quiet and the fishing is great. Whitefish Lake is located right near the Manitoba / Saskatchewan border and almost all of the lake is in Manitoba. The main outlet creek channel is the only part of the lake that is actually in Saskatchewan and it is part of the head waters for the Wood River that flows through the Swan River valley.
