The Bilancino lake is a reservoir; the construction of the dam started in 1986, finalised in 1998 and the reservoir filled the first time in 1998. Its main aim was to enhance the flow of Arno (Florence’s river) during the dry season. The touristic interest has increased more and more, since it’s the closest water body to Florence. Park the car at N 43°58.932 E 11°15.935. Since the last 300 m are on a dirt road, if you want to avoid it, park before at N 43°59.170 E 11°15.515 The cache is a Tupperware (15x11x5cm) with a blue transparent lid. I suggest you to have a bath if it’s summer (on the left of the parking place, looking towards the lake). You can also go for a MTB tour along the lake bank.

Bilancino è un lago artificiale; la costruzione della diga iniziò nel 1986, fu conclusa nel 1998, e l’invaso riempito per la prima volta nel 1998. Il suo scopo principale doveva essere l’aumento della portata dell’Arno durante l’estate. L'interesse da un punto di vista turistico si è accresciuto, grazie al fatto che è lo specchio d’acqua più vicino a Firenze. Parcheggiate l’auto in N 43°58.932 E 11°15.935. Dato che gli ultimi 300 m are sono su strada sterrata, se volete evitarla parcheggiate prima in N 43°59.170 E 11°15.515 La cache è in un contenitore stile Tupperware (15x11x5cm) con un coperchio blu trasparente. Vi suggerisco di fare un bagno se è estate (sulla sinistra rispetto al parcheggio guardando il lago). Potete anche fare un giro in MTB lungo le rive del lago.
