Daventry Calling Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Urban Surfer: This cache like every single one I've placed has been repeatedly vandalised. Daventry is worth a visit, there's some great places to see: Borough Hill, the "new forest", the country park and "the pepper pot" but in my opinion not a good place for the placing of caches. Geocache Description:

Located on Daventry's Borough Hill. There is free parking available and a fairly good pathway around.

Daventry was made famous for it's BBC radio transmissions, hence the name of the cache. There is still a BBC building here. Daventry was often a marked area on the dial of radio units back in the days of valves and diodes.
This cache has been planted near the location of Daventry's radio masts. (Sadly there is only one mast now).

Nearby is also the site of an Iron Age Fort. The hillside fortifications can still be made out though now they are home to a vast rabbit warren.

You are able to walk around the top of the hill along a fairly well marked route (approx. 2 miles), this allows superb views all around the surrounding countryside - on a nice day.

In winter the area can get muddy so boots are recommended. Sometimes cattle are grazed here, so please be sensible with dogs.

Parking is available at N52 15.254 W001 08.626.
