Geocache Description:

Over the years Ottawa has seen Drive-Ins come and go. This is the first in a series of caches which will bring you to their resting places and will provide a little history on each. The final cache (#7) will take you to a fully functional Drive-In, which you can enjoy after all your hard work.

Please park at N 45° 27.274 W 075° 35.255 and not in the nearby private parking lot.

Our first cache! The Queensway Drive-In opened in 1964 and was twinned in 1975. Owned by Odeon (and later Cineplex Odeon) it closed in 1985. There was room for 863 cars.

In the photo below (circa 2007) they hadn’t done too much with the land yet, so you can almost visualize the Drive-In...

It’s a stroller-friendly walk over an even (but overgrown!) paved access road.

The cache is a camo'd peanut butter jar with an inside volume equivalent to about 4 hockey pucks stacked one on top of the other. There's a pen inside. Please ensure the container is completely sealed.

Please DO NOT be tempted to drive into the large warehouse parking lot to park closer to the cache... it's private property and will surely lead to the cache disappearing.

Thanks goes out to movie-theatre.org for their permission to use their data.
