Yamar's Unusual #6: The ORB Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Yamar: It looks like this one is now gone. The container was rather unique and I don't have the supplies to create a new one just like it, so I'll archive it. Thanks to everyone that found it and liked it!

Geocache Description:

Just another odd cache. Easy to find, unique in design.

Yamar to Spelunk on 2004-04-06: "If this cache is under that lamp post [again], I'm going to scream."

This series of caches is designed with at least one part of each cache being an unusual type of container or hiding device. The series is designed to make you think (sometimes a lot), hopefully laugh, and probably get annoyed. Caches show you about an area, and having multiple points to stop means you learn and see more about your surroundings. Thus, these caches always consist of multiple stages usually involving at least a virtual [with one exception]. The caches to date are:

  1. They eyes have it
  2. O where art thou
  3. Inverted Cache (easiest)
  4. Gone Fishing
  5. Totally Tubular
  6. The ORB

Creativity is a funny thing. What it really takes to be creative is simply to be as abnormal as possible. This isn't a difficult one to find, but the container and it's style of hiding should make you say "this guy is just plain nutty".

To retrieve the cache, first find the clip.

The name for this cache was inspired by the Brisco County, Jr. TV show that aired a number of years back. If you've seen the show, then this cache will look mildly familiar but the wrong color.

I also considered placing this cache at Christmas time, for other probably obvious reasons. In fact, I designed it last Christmas, took 4 months to finally build it another 5 to hide it.

The cache is hidden on the edge of a UCDavis parking lot, which is where you should go to find it. There will certainly be a huge number of muggles around at particular times, so weekend visits are probably best though I'm sure you could manage during the day time. Parking is free on weekends except during events. During the week, you can park right in front of it and run.

The log can be found closest to the top.
