Geocache Description:

Traditional-Cache in the Meshomasic State Forest. Cache is a Rubbermaid container with a red lid.

Directions to the Cache: From Cobalt Village in East Hampton (Junction of Routes 66 and 151) go 0.8 mile North on Depot Hill Rd. (bare right at fork). Turn right on Gadpouch Rd. for 0.4 mile to the trailhead of the Shenipsit Blue Trail. Park at 41 34.637N 072 33.049W or 41 34.609N 072 33.046W The Meshomasic State Forrest is home to the largest known population of timber rattlesnakes in Connecticut, so when you find the cache take a toy rattle so you can “speak to the natives.” A little ways past the cache, the Blue trail intersects the White/Yellow trail. If you go along this trail for a short distance you will be treated to a great view of the Connecticut River. Well worth the climb during foliage season. Speaking of seasons, it’s recommended to wear orange during deer hunting season.
