Size Does Matter! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RanHefner: It is with deep regret and disappointment that I must archive "Size Does Matter". Regret that many of the geocaching community had to be subjected to the lewd behavior of SOME who frequent this beautiful little park. Dissappointment in the local authorities of Gastonia for not RECLAIMING the park for the children, families, and normal people wanting to enjoy the outdoors in a healthy way.

I never knew of the SICK activities going on in Rankin park when I placed the cache. After I placed it there, I started hearing of WIERD behavior going on in there. Then later, I heard from a law enforcement officer exactly what was going on there. I had faith that the local authorities would take action and return this park to the wholesomeness in which it was created. My faith was ill placed as the authorities in Gastonia appearantly CONDONE this activity or at least wish to confine it in an "off-the-beaten-path" location. You know...Out of sight, out of mind!

If Gastonia is going to surrender this wonderful park to the trash of the world, they should just close the park and bull-doze it over rather than subject the families and children to such activities.

Anyway, I apologize to all the cachers that were subjected to the "scum of the earth" while hunting for my caches. If I knew of this before, I would have never placed it there.

I will not be replacing any caches in this park. I recommend that no one else place on there, either. To the other caches placed there and the owners of those caches, I offer no advice. I just say, think about it!

Geocache Description:

The cache location is in the Rankin Lake Park. You will have to enter the wooded areas and a little bushwacking is necessary. No easy "park & grab" on this one!

Recommended parking coordinates: N 35° 17.719    W 081° 11.423

NOTE: You don't have to pry the lid off. It unscrews.

R.E.A.L (Rankin Emergency Anti-micro League) has determined that a line had to be drawn in the sand. These blooming micros need to be shown who's boss! If a micro is the chihuahua of geocaches, "Size Does Matter" is the Rottweiler!

Venture in the woods of Rankin Lake Park and you may find a frightening sight; one of a few LARGE geocaches in North Carolina. You are looking for a camouflaged 5-gallon bucket! This ain't no little 35mm canister. It swallows bison tubes for a snack. You don't need your own pen or pencil because R.E.A.L. cache containers have PLENTY of room! You will NOT need your magnifying glass to sign a puny little scroll log because R.E.A.L. cache containers can hold a notebook of a log! You should bring large trade items because R.E.A.L. cache containers can house a variety of trinkets.

There is a camera in the cache. Please use it to take a picture of you and your caching crew if you wish. If the counter is getting low, please say so in you log so I can replace the camera. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE CAMERA AS A TRADE ITEM.

Original contents of cache are:
  • FTF PRIZE! Any item you wish! No trade necessary for FTF prize.
  • Rain Camo Backpack (great geocaching bag)
  • Coleman 5-Piece Aluminum Mess Kit
  • AM/FM/TV Band Radio
  • Flashlight With Batteries
  • Emergency Space Blanket
  • 3-Piece (knife, spoon, fork) Camping Set
  • Rain Poncho
  • Teddi-Bear
  • Plastic Squirt Gun
  • 3 Super Balls
  • 2 Glass Fish Trinkets
FTF honors go to Eswau!

NOTE: All the above jibber-jabber is just tongue-in-cheek humor. I actually like micros!
