Rocky's "Litterbox" Hybrid Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

david&diana: The ammo can was still there but someone has built a crude shelter in the woods just a few feet from the cache. We decided to remove the container since a homeless person may be living nearby.

Geocache Description:

Our cat, Rocky, would always get excited whenever we went out to search for a letterbox hybrid. We didn't understand at first but finally realized he thought we were saying litterbox, not letterbox.

At Rocky's insistence, and with his help, this cache is a "litterbox" hybrid. The coordinates point to the middle of a giant litterbox. It is full of the finest sand and will accommodate a large number of cats. Rocky wanted to bury a little treasure but we told him buried caches weren’t allowed. We also prefer ammo cans to micros.

Stand in the middle of the litterbox (watch your step, there may be small landmines) and face 240°. You should see a fat white “pole”. This is pole #1. Follow the path to the west and count 65 paces to the 5th pole (the 2nd pole is sheared off at ground level). A pace is two steps, you only count each time the same foot or paw hits the ground - approximately 5 feet. Feline steps may be smaller. Adjust the number according to your needs. When you get to the 5th pole, face north and go into the woods approximately 115 feet until you find the classic cache, an ammo can laying on the ground covered with sticks and leaves. The coordinates for the 5th while pole have been posted below so you can verify that you're in the right place.

This is a LETTERBOX HYBRID Geocache. Letterboxing is a precursor of Geocaching, using compass bearings or other clues to lead the seeker to the letterbox. The cache contains a logbook and cat’s paw stamp. If you wish, you may stamp your personal journal with the rubber stamp in the letterbox (cache); then you may stamp the logbook with your personal stamp if you have one - if you don't have a stamp, just sign the logbook. But, please be sure to leave the stamp, logbook, and inkpad in the container.

Our beloved Rocky passed away on Oct. 10, 2006 at the age of 15. We are dedicating this cache as a memorial to him.
