Change as of April 2007: This is now a 2-stage multi-cache hidden
in Scott Township Park. The first stage is less than 5 feet from
the trails. The final stage is only about 50 feet off-trail. The
park is a relatively new park, but is already prone to mosquitoes
and poison ivy.
Oh no! Elemental has escaped! She, along with her brother (Xander)
and sister (Sweet Bambina) have run away from home in search of
their mittens (do a travel bug search on names for more info).
Xander ran to this park, to hide in the "Great Scott" cache (a
great cache if you haven't found it yet). Elemental followed him,
but it took her a few more tries to find a good lair for herself.
While she's out galivanting around the country, she's left some fun
trade items in her stash for the rest of us to play with.
This is a 2-step multi-cache that will take you on a walk around
the Scott Township Park. The entire trip, from parking near the
playground, around the lake, and into the woods should be about a
mile or so (depends on if you go the shortest way, or if you end up
taking a detour or two...). There are now four caches in Scott
Township Park - Great Scott, Come Swim with Me, and In Honor of
Daggy all use the same parking area as Elemental's Escape, so come
and try for all four while you are here.
The first stage is a 35-mm film canister hidden close to the
trails. The final cache is a lock-style rubbermaid container
(original contents include the mandatory logbook and pencils, along
with several of Elemental's favorite games to play - all child
friendly).
Begin your hunt behind the playground on the Sassafras trail. Your
hike should take you along the Lake Trail (stage 2) and then around
the end of the lake and off onto the Oak Trail (stage 3). Keep an
eye out for deer (real or not) and a pretty lake - you should see
both. Also, keep in mind that horses are allowed on the trails -
and most don't appear to use bags to catch their droppings...
