Najstaršie hradné stavby sa sústredili okolo trojuholníkového nádvoria na vybiehajúcom skalnom ostrohu. Nádvorie bolo sprístupnené bránou, ktorú chránila veža. K mohutnému románskemu palácu, ktorý dominoval priestoru, pristavili hradnú kaplnku a vysunuli ju na okraj strmého brala. Opevnenie, ako aj základnú románsku dispozíciu nezotrel ani ďalší čulý stavebný ruch v nasledovných storočiach. V 14.storočí pristavili na SZ strane nádvoria nový gotický palác a v 16.storočí posilnili dolné nádvorie dvojicou okrúhlych nárožných bášt, čím ho premenili na predhradie, ktoré sa stalo ťažiskom obrany. Nachádzali sa tu aj hospodárske budovy hradu, jednu z nich si budete musieť dobre pozrieť. Do nádvoria ústil aj prístupový most na pilieroch, vedúci nad terénnou priehlbňou, využitou na obranu, ktorý dnes tvorí lešenie. Tadiaľ sa dostanete do hradu. Horný hrad a nádvorie býva občas cez víkendy a v prípade zlého počasia uzatvorené, pretože sa tu intenzívne pracuje na obnove hradu.
Na nádvorí, kam Ťa dovedú súradnice stojí hospodárska budova. Nemôžeš si ju pomýliť, okrem toho že je jediná a najnovšia (drevené trámy a omietka) je oproti vchodu do horného hradu. Po oboch stranách dverí do budovy z nádvoria je Y malých okien, ktoré sú snáď jediné na hrade širšie ako vyššie. Nad oknami je zvonku viditeľných X otovorov po trámoch, ktoré niesli prvé podlažie budovy.
Súradnice skrýše vypočítaš takto:
N: 48°45.(256/X – pocet komínov na hrade v 18. storocí)
E: 18°23.(473/Y + pocet okien na hrade v 18. storocí)
Pri výpočte ignoruj to, čo je za desatinou čiarkou, ak Ti vyjde záporné číslo, urobil si chybu, ak Ti vyjde dvojciferné - napr.99, nie je to 990, ale 99, teda dosadíš "099")
K cache pokračuj takto: z hradu zbehni dolu na cestu, smerom kam Ťa vedú súradnice. Pochvíli si na Y ciest, vpravo ide modrá a tá druhá cesta, smerom na súradnice je správna. Skrýša, je na krásnom mieste mimo hradu, ktoré voláme „fotoskala“. Ked tam (po ceste) prídeš, uvidíš prečo. Veľmi vhodný termín je jesenný večer, pred západom slnka.
Prístup:
Z Bánoviec nad Bebravou smerom na Uhrovec (rodisko L. Štúra a A. Dubceka). Nikam neodbocuj, cesta pokracuje na obec Žitná-Radiša. Hned na zaciatku obce je odbocka vpravo do Omastinej a kúsok po vyjdutí z obce je odbocka vpravo na Uhrovské Podhradie. Na konci obce je kamenolom – parkovisko. Odtial po značke cez potok hore na hrad.

The oldest castle buildings were concentrated around the triangle courtyard on the jut spur of rock. The access to the courtyard was through the gate, guarded by a tower. A small castle chapel, moved to the edge of the steep cliff was built out to the massive roman palace, which dominated the space. Neither the fortification nor the original roman disposition was wiped out by the later agile building efforts in the next centuries. A new gothic palace was built on the NW side of the courtyard in the 14-th century and in the 16-th century the lower cortyard was fortified by the hip bastion twins, turning it into the foreyard and making it the center of the defence. There were also service buildings, one of which you can see. A pylon bridge over the terrain depression, used as a part of defence, came to the courtyard and today is used as a scaffolding. That is the way you shall come to the stronghold. The upper castle and the courtyard could be in some weekends or in case of a bad weather closed because of the intense reconstruction works.
The co-ordinates shall take you to the courtyard, where a service building can be found. You cannot be mistaken. It is not only the single and the newest one there (wooden timbers and coat) but there is also a oposite entry to upper coutyard. On both sides of the front doors from outside there are Y small windows, which are probably the only ones wider then taller in the castle. Above the windows (from outside) there are X holes left by timbers, which held the building's first floor.
The co-ordinates of the cache you will calculate as followed (ignore decimals ):
N: 48°45.(256/X – number of the chimneys the castle had in the 18-th century)
E: 18°23.(473/Y + number of the windows the castle had in the 18-th century)
To the cache continue from the castle to coordinates, go down to the road, at Y blue mark goes right but you follow second road to the coordinates. The cache is on the beautiful place called 'photo-rock', away from the castle. When you come to the place, you will see why. Suitable time is an autumn evening, before the sunset.
Prístup:
From the city Banovce nad Bebravou go direction Uhrovec (birth place of L.Stur and A. Dubcek). Take no turns, continue the way to Zitna-Radisa. In the beginning of the city is a right turn to Omastina and shortly after leaving the city in another right turn to Uhrovske Podhradie. At the end of the city is a quarry and a parking place. From there by mark path over the stream go up to the castle.
