Geocache Description:

Once the location of the world's largest carbon black plant (1903), this spot is now home to Cabot Recycling Center. Your "contact" on this mission has the code name "Battery Man," who can be found waiting for you just inside the open double doors.

In the fall of 1989, Mr. Godfrey L. Cabot, secured a lease on the A.G. Mathews farm and drilled his first well in Calhoun County. Work on construction of a Carbon Black plant began in 1899, and the intire work was completed in 1901. The plant was, at that time, considered to be the largest in the world.

Now, the old building is used by Cabot Recycling Center. Coordinates for this cache lead you to the always open double doors of the "drop off" center, where cachers are encouraged to bring old batteries, newspaper, computer paper and clear plastic bottles without lids for recycling.

Your contact, upon arrival, is "Battery Man," who's tall and lanky figure lurks not far from the coordinates. A visit with him will lead you to the cache.

Upon placement, this cache contains a Hello Kitty figurine, crayons, a McToy ESPN electronic tennis game, a McD's Animal Alley "Lickerish" still in the bag, a McD Roo Toy, a pocket mirror, a McD's Space Invaders electronic game, a Wendy's Peter Pan jig saw puzzle, a golden cross on a chain, a McD's Animal Alley bear, a kids "pocket knife" (all plastic) with compass, a Peter Pan alligator figurines, a Scooby and Shaggy figurine, a McD tranformer named "Cyclonus" toy still in the bag, pencils, recycling information and stickers, and log book. Possiblities of a Travel Bug within are likely.

CACHE WAS STOLEN, BUT WAS REPLACED AND ACTIVE AGAIN AS OF APRIL 1, 2009.
