What other animals left their tracks behind, besides the Dinosaurs?
You'll have to keep your eyes open, because they were probably not
as big as the Dinosaurs were.
This Earthcache is the site of Jurassic aged dinosaur tracks.
The site is open Monday - Saturday, 10AM-8PM in the summer, and
10AM-6PM in the Winter. Admission is $6 for adults & $3 for
children 4 and up.
The dinosaur tracks at this site are made in Sandstones and
Mudstones in the Jurassic Moenave Formation. They were deposited
on, and near the shore of a freshwater lake. This site contains
more "swimming" type tracks than at any other site in the world.
This site also contains one of only two known tracks made from a
theropod (Meat Eating Dinosaur) that was sitting. This site also
contains the largest single dinosaur track block in the world.
The trackway from the "Sitting" dinosaur contains not only the
imprints of the toes (tarsals) but also the metatarsals (in the
sole of the foot). The imprint of the pubis bone is also evident,
as are marks from the dinosaurs hand. This very unique imprint made
world headlines when it was discovered.
