Grandma's Schoolhouse Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Jennifer&Dean: It appears the locals have discovered the cache and are using it as a "stash" location. We are removing the cache and disposing of the paraphernalia. It has had a good run. Thanks to all those who have found it, sorry for those who haven't. Perhaps in the future another cacher will put this nice location to good use.

Geocache Description:

Outside of Belgrade, Montana is a small Schoolhouse built in 1901. Dean's Mom lives nearby and loves to walk along Dry Creek School Road past the schoolhouse to a little bridge over the East Gallatin River. Cache is in a decon container and has a few small trade items.

This summer has been a hard one on our family. Both of Dean's Grandmother's moved on to better places. At this bridge we celebrated Grandma Lil's life and dispersed her ashes to flow home.

While here we saw several deer, some pheasants, rabbits and a few turkeys. This is an access to the river but not a well known one. It is surrounded by a private birding perserve and we think it one of the prettier spots in the area.

The schoolhouse is located at: N 45*52.495, W 111*13.063 and has a historical marker- we recommend a quick stop to read it. It is still used for neighborhood get-togethers, weddings, and other meetings. But NO Dancing... the floor isn't in good enough shape. Which is too bad because Grandma Lil LOVED dancing!

We recommend approaching this one from the Belgrade side on West Dry Creek Road and turning left onto Dry Creek School Rd at the school house.

Dean's Mom lives nearby and will be watching this cache as she wanted to share this area with other nature lovers. She and Grandma Lil joined us for several caches in Bozeman and they both enjoyed finding the Statues Times 10 cache. Mom P was also with us during our 1000th find and this is her way of participating in our hobby.

We all hope you enjoy visiting this cache and ask that in your logs you remember someone close to you that may have enjoyed this spot.
