A puzzle-based multi-cache in Boyce Park.
This is a five-stage multi-cache located in Boyce Park. Stage one is hidden in a camouflaged plastic container that is about 12” x 9” x 2” in size. Stages two, three, and four are hidden in plastic 5”x 3"x 3" containers covered in camouflage tape. The final stage is a well-hidden, large ammo can. Only the coordinates for stage one are directly given to you. At each of the first four stages, you will have to solve a puzzle to determine the location of the next stage - and ultimately the final cache.
The puzzles are designed to be solvable by adults and kids of any age. The most advanced math skills one needs to solve any of the puzzles is second grade addition and subtraction. This does not mean, however, that the puzzles are all easy. The puzzles (and the hides, for that matter) start out easy, but get harder as you go along. If you get stuck on a puzzle you can email me for a hint. One hint per stage per day seems to be fair.
Two of the puzzles may require you to research additional information beyond what is included in the puzzle for you to determine the solution. The 'research' isn't tough, just a quick web-search is all that needs to be done. Either bring a cellphone so that you can 'phone a friend' to have them do the research, or plan on making a couple of trips to complete this cache. Also, it would be a good idea to bring along paper and a pencil.
For the easiest route to stage one that doesn't cross private property, park at the tennis courts (40° 28.500 -79°44.238).
