Geocache Description:

Cascadia Marine Trail

The Cascadia Marine Trail is a salt water trail that stretches over 140 miles, from the Canadian border on the north to southernmost Puget Sound near Olympia. Camano Island was the very first Cascadia Marine Trail campsite. In 1958 Lowell Point was acquired which doubled the park area and added 3000' of waterfront.

During the last ice age, the area was covered by an ice sheet approximately one mile thick. The glacier carved the shape of the island with its high "feeder banks" that helped build the beaches.

While here, comb the beach, watch the boat traffic, or hike the forest loop trails. At this park, a volunteer group hosts interpretive programs during the summer months.

This will be a two for one as there is a bench mark very close to this cache location (TR1091).

The park is open year-round for camping and day use. Summer: 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Winter: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you find the cache hide it as well as you found it. Have fun and as always beware of snooping eyes. It is always a good idea to have a writing instrument with you.

Finally, please let me know if there are problems with either the cache or its coordinates.

Never go down top the ocean with a notion of what you might find....M. Williams
