Geocache Description:

Cache is a small camo-ed container with a logbook only. BYOP. Exit stage right at the historic Ritz Theater and you will be close to this cache. GPS was jumping because of the buildings so the hint is a good one.


Built as a silent film theater in 1928, the Ritz was refitted in 1933 to accomodate talkies and to undergo a sleek Art Deco makeover.

The Ritz remained one of Sheffield's most popular movie houses until it went out of business in the late 1950s.

In 1985, the Ritz was purchased by the Tennesse Valley Arts Association, and restored to its 1930s appearance, complete with its unusual auditorium side wall decoration, resembling giant fans.

The Ritz is now home to the Center Stage Community Theater, which performs both classic and contemporary plays in the setting of a classic small town movie house. (This information found at www.cinematreasures.org/theater/1025)
