The first cotton mill in Chicopee.
At the coordinates listed above you will see a ornate metal and brick gateway, passing thru the gateway you will see a canal and related hardware to supply the water that powered these mills. You can cross and follow the canal and get to the final cache area, or if you want you can drive and park near the cache area.
This mill complex and area is in the top ten of my favorite locations.
On the 2 granite support posts for the gateway are two dates, from the last 3 numbers of the earliest date subtract 9 for the north coordinates N42 08.XXX. From the later date subtract 58 to get W72 36.XXX.
Too those who may know this area, they may not have to visit the gateway but if they haven't explored the mill area they will miss out on some of the interesting, (to me at least), sights.
Due to the location of final cache and to cut down on muggles I will give exact location of cache. At the upper end of the bridge, not the sidewalk side, between where the guardrail ends and the square rails of the bridge start. The cache is in the open end of the bottom rail.
Cache is a magnetic key case with room only for log sheet and pencil stub. Please don't push it in too far when you replace it.
