Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates are only for parking. THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED HERE!

Every time I drive down I89 I look over to the Northfield Range before getting off exit 6 and see that ugly cell phone tower rising up from the ridgeline like a sore thumb. I figured what the hey, I might as well put a cache there. The only problem was getting to it.

I solved that for you by giving you the parking coordinates to the trails you are going on.

Grab a map at the parking lot. If the maps are gone, your GPSr will do the work for you. The trails are not marked except for the blue-blazed trail, but it shouldn't matter.

If it wasn't for the cell tower, I would never have ventured up, but the hike is worth it. At first, I was taking you to the tower to find the cache, but there was no view. I found a better place. The total hike is a little over 4 miles of gradual trail walking/hiking. No bushwacking is required. The final quarter mile gets a little steep, but it's not too difficult. Total elevation gain is just over 1000 feet.

Almost 360 degree views can be found at the cache, and on a clear day, the view is fantastic. The mystery is not the site, nor the container, but solving the following puzzle to get the correct cache coordinates:

Hi 11 next1o rA Dm s1Q

ATV 4-wheeler's in the warmer weather and snow machines in the Winter are allowed on the trail to the cache site. Horses, and bikes will also get you right to it. As I was coming down from the cache, a mountain biker was going up. He looked like he was working a lot harder than I was on the way up, but he did say, "It's doable!" Take a rock with you to add to the cairn.

***** UPDATE: 9 April, 2006 *****

I went back to the cache today and moved it slightly. Once you solve the puzzle, from the former cache sight, head due South (my GPSr said a bearing of 8 degrees, or on a heading of 174 degrees) for 31 meters. It is tucked under a natural rock wall. When you get to the trail split, take the Ridgeline Trail, not the Loop Trail. You will thank me later. I dont think you or I should have much trouble with this one now.

*****UPDATE April 22, 2006*****
I just want to thank everyone who has taken the time out to find this cache and to all who have yet to find it. I will be deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism to Iraq for about 14 months. Darrel of DJ and Cal has graciously agreed to adopt my caches and maintain them while I am gone and I really appreciate that. Thanks everyone and see you next year!
