Simpson Creek Covered Bridge Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Mr.P.: I have had so much vandalism over the years. After the last two that did not find it I checked and it was gone. Hate to give this one up for it has been a good one for cachers but not the owner. Every thing has been cleaned up and good shape. Thanks.

Geocache Description:

A.S. Hugill built a 75ft.2in. long by 14ft.3in.wide multiple kingpost truss bridge in 1881 for $1,483.00 on land of John Lowe. Survived great flood of 1888 but was washed away from original site 1/2 mile upstream in 1899.
In 1984 a tree fell across the roof. Repairs have since been made. The bridge is no longer used by vehicular traffic as a concrete bridge was built a few hundred feet next to it. It was rehabilitated in 2002, and opened to historical viewing foot traffic only.
This bridge is also listed in the National Register of historical places in Harrison County, WV.
