The TB House of the Seven Gables Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TheBaers: The cache is in fact gone.

I am archiving this cache with a final tribute to Hawthorn in a manner similar to that which he finished his House of the Seven Gables:

All this time, though left in solitude, in which a gifted eye might have seen foreshadowed the coming misdeads of misguided youth. The Pine Tree, moreover, with what foliage the April gale had spared to it, whispered unintelligible prophecies --after witnessing these deeds, this bygone woe and this present pranks, of her kindred mortals--had given one farewell touch of a spirit's joy upon her roots, as she looked heavenward from the House of the Seven Gables!

Thanks to all who have found this cache.

Geocache Description:

With sincere apologies to Nathaniel Hawthorne.

WHEN a cacher calls his work a Travel Bug repository, it need hardly be observed that he wishes to claim a certain latitude, both as to its difficulty and terrain, which he would not have felt himself entitled to assume had he professed to be establishing a Virtual. The latter form of cache is presumed to aim at a very minute fidelity, not merely to the possible, but to the probable and ordinary course of cacher's experience. The former-while, as a work of art, it must rigidly subject itself to the guidelines for reporting a cache, and while it sins unpardonably so far as it may swerve aside from the truth of the human heart-has fairly a right to present that truth under circumstances, to a great extent, of the hider's own choosing or creation. If he think fit, also, he may so manage bushes, trees and other medium as to bring out or mellow the lights and deepen and enrich the shadows of the hiding spot. He will be wise, no doubt, to make a very moderate use of the privileges here stated, and, especially, to mingle the cache and the local surroundings rather as a slight, delicate, and evanescent flavor, than as any portion of the actual container visible to the public. He can hardly be said, however, to commit a geocaching crime even if he disregards this caution.

The area is packed with muggles, but if you approach the cache from a hidden clearing about 50’ to the West of the cache there is a relatively isolated and inquisition free path.
