ancient, but both are in the shadow of the gibbet!
There is a single-track road up to both (non-equestrians only),

passing places after the farm, but it’s best to park just
after the second cattle/sheep grid – there’s plenty of
space there – and it’s a short walk the rest of th
The co-ordinates are for the ancient form of communication - a
“Cup and Ring” carved stone.
But the cache is not here!
It’s fairly near at another stone – and this time

Info:
The term "Cup and Ring” carving describes a range of rock
carved symbols (petroglyphs) that are found mainly in northern
England and Scotland, although similar carvings occur in other
countries around the world. In Britain the carvings are estimated
to be around 4000 - 5000 years old, which dates them to the
Neolithic and Bronze ages.
The reason, or reasons, behind these carvings is unknown.
Various suggestions have been put forward since early antiquarians
identified them as prehistoric: maps of the world, maps of the
stars, sites where fat was set alit for religion, records of
ownership or boundaries and so on.
