IF YOU PLAN TO VISIT THIS LOCATION, PLEASE BE SO KIND AND
PREPARE YOURSELF WITH A NEW MAGNETIC CACHE CONTAINER TO PUT IT
EXACTLY WHERE IT BELONGS (SEE HINT). A WELL EDUCATED GUESS IS THAT
THERE MIGHT BE NOT MUCH TO FIND OTHERWISE. MANY THANKS IN
ADVANCE!
Nizhniy Novgorod was established 1221, where the river Oka merges
into Wolga, it is now the third biggest city of the Russian
Federation.
In the city center at Minin Square, the Kremlin fortress (built
1500-1512) with a 2045m wall safely overlooks both rivers from 100m
above. It is now home to the city's government buildings, old
Russian Orthodox churches, an eternal flame commemorating fallen
soldiers and the Kremlin Café which is located inside one of the
Kremlin's 13 towers (take the spiral staircase up, and you can walk
the wall from the top floor). To look at the Kremlin, e.g. see
this link
Inside the walls of the Kremlin, the walkway is lined with
disabled war machinery for public display: tanks, jeeps, cannons, a
plane, and the top of a submarine. A walk also awards you with
great panoramic views.
Small note on cache maintenance: The company
which I am working for has a local office in Nizhniy Novgorod, and
I always can contact colleagues of my team there.
