Welcome To The Spirit World

Here is a cache hidden along Spirits Creek in the Ozark National
Forest.
Spirits Creek is a year-round creek that is both rugged and
beautiful. It begins way up on the Mountain and empties into the
Mighty Mulberry River. When large amounts of rainfall feed it, the
upper reaches make an awesome white water gully-washer; or so I'm
told! Some crazy daredevil kayakers thought it would be fun to
navigate this wild water when the Mulberry was at flood stage and
took pictures to prove it. To see for yourself check out this
link:http://www.ozarkpages.com/cgi-bin/gallery/index.cgi You can
reach Spirits Creek from Hwy.23 and Shores Lake Road just north of
Turner's Bend or from the end of Hwy.215 north of Mulberry. Hwy 215
eventually turns into Shores Lakes Road. Good and safe parking for
the hunt can be found on an old gas well pad situated Southeast of
the Bridge at these coord.'s: N 35°38.241 W 93°56.270. Once parked,
proceed to the Northwest corner of the Bridge and you will see the
trail to the North. BE SURE and follow the trail along the Creek.
This pig-trail will allow only hikers, atv's, or rock-crawler
jeeps! Either way you choose to traverse to the cache, you will
find the trail "Rough as a Cob" to say the very least. That is why
I rated this 4.5 stars. Starting out, it's rocky and bumpy, but
further in, it's just downright nasty. As the saying goes; "Some of
the best things are hard to come by". Well it's true on Spirits
Creek b/c there is a lot of fantastic scenery along her banks to
behold, and this hunt will show you just a smidgeon of it. There
are several places of interest that I wanted to post a waypoint
for, but decided to leave it up to you to Discover for yourself!
The one I am posting is at some large rocks that I found
interesting for 2 reasons: 1) the natural wonder and 2) this is the
where the trail starts to turn into real trouble! N 35°38.534 W
93°55.724. ENTER WAYPOINT NOW! The trail up this hill is
treacherous no matter how you came in here. If you hiked in, you
will need to grab some trees to hold onto while ascending. If you
brought your Rock-Crawler Jeep, you better buckle your safety
harness and check your tire pressure. If you did like I did and
brought your Lil'Jeep "Yamaha" with 4WD, now's the time to use the
4WD and also say a little prayer! On second thought, I WOULD NOT
recommend an ATV from this point on. Still can't believe I made it
up the hill w/o injury! Felt so sorry for cachers who come to hunt,
that PINK-GLO flagging was hung at the spot where you need to leave
the trail. Sorry, but it don't get any easier here. When I parked
here, it was almost dark! The cache is what you come to expect in
situations like these: a quality-stocked ammo can that should be
plainly visible.......IF you are standing at the correct angle. A
special reward will go to the First To Find cacher OR group of
cachers, a ten dollar bill. Yep, that's right...CASH! Knowing how
these difficult hunts discourage most cachers, I wanted to somehow
inspire some who might not even bother. After all, how many times
is it that we find REAL treasure? When I do, you've got to know
that CacheNaFlash always takes the CASH! HAHAHAHA! A Second To Find
cash reward isn't bad
either.......................................................................So
what have you got lose?....Well let's go find this cache. My REWARD
for hiding this cache is your comments; good or bad, let me know.
And "Welcome To The Spirit World". Congratulations to Hot Rod on
Foot and Bike for First To Find Honors!
