This cache takes you to the three prominent villages in the Mountain Brook area. Your starting point is located in the smallest, English Village, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee at Joe Muggs, eat a sandwich and have a beer at Billy's or get pampered at Richard Joseph salon. The page coordinates take you to a historic marker of the first Tuberculosis Sanatarium in Northern Alabama. Take the two dates on this sign and add them together. Add that number to your north coordinate (ignore decimal) then use that number and subtract 3348. That total will give you your next north coordinate. Subtract the number of feet stated on the sign from your west coordinate, then subtract 444. This total will give you your west coordinate.
If you have done your math correctly you will be located in Crestline Village. Crestline Village is the home of both Mountain Brook City Hall and the Library. It has all the characteristics of a small town. Located here are LaPaz restaurant, Bug's Boys and Snoozy's Kids children's shops and my video store, Blockbuster.
Subtract the year that Mountain Brook was incorporated from your north coordinate then add 757 to get your next north coordinate. Add the year that the clock tower was constructed to your west coordinate. Subtract the number 1008 to get your next west destination.
Now you should be standing in the heart of Mountain Brook Village. Located within this village is long time proprietors, Smith's Variety and Rich's Pharmacy. Shopping and eating is abundant in this village as well as my favorite icecream place, the Mountain Brook Creamery.
On one side of this sign you will find info about Will Franke. One of the most important figures in the development of present day Mountain Brook. Take the number of how old Franke was when he died and subtract it from your north coordinate. Then add 59 to that number to give you your final north destination. For your final west coordinate, read the opposite side of the sign. The last paragraph has names in quotes. Subtact how many names you see in quotes from your west coordinate.
