Scooby Doo Remix at Washington Tavern Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Frodo_Underhill: This cache had a good long run - 9 years. Time to archive as it is not likely to be approved when the new cache guidelines come out due to its proximity to the ruins.

I was some what dismayed with the damage to the road to this cache since it was placed. Looks like a caravan has been playing in the puddles turning them into mud holes. This was accessible with a low clearance 2WD Ford Mustang in '05. You would need a Jeep or a truck today. I hiked!

Geocache Description:

Scooby Doo and the gang have come to Washington Tavern to seek out the ghost of Joe Mulliner. Perhaps they will find him! Be careful of the spooks and cellar holes that you might find at this old stage stop.

This cache was recycled from the old Scooby Doo - Monopoly cache that was formerly in Burlington county.  One of the co-owners of this cache suggested that it be recycled after it was archived.  The original cache log was recovered to preserve the history of this cache.  The next log entry can claim FTF at this new location as this is a new cache.

This cache is near the ruins of of Washington Tavern in the Wharton State Forest.  It is not too far from where Tom's now retired but classic cache Joe Mulliner Caught at Washington Tavern was once located.  Could not let this interesting area go uncached much longer. There are ruins and cellar pits in the area so this cache is not recommended for night caching.  The cache is not located in any of the archaeological areas and no digging required - nor allowed.  Also if you come across any artifacts, leave them as they are, as it is not legal to collect them.  Try to imagine what life might of been like here in a bygone era.

According to Tom's old listing, this is the site of Washington Tavern, where the Robin Hood of the Pines, Joe Mulliner was captured.  There are holes and signs of foundations and pits in the area so watch your step.  Some of the trees and vines are downright spooky so this is a fitting location for Scooby and the gang to look for ghosts!

This is a small rubber maid container  small ammo can hidden in Classic Piney style.

Old caches and old cache locations should never die - they should be recycled.  This cache contains 100% recycled content.
