Geocache Description:

Clear Farm aso known as "Pingle Farm"

John Jarad, with his wife, Jane and children, Clarissa and John, arrived in Australia in 1846 from Lincolnshire, England and settled initially in Gawler.
The family purchased 240 acres overlooking the Onkaparinga River in 1856 and named it Clear Farm. Over time the farm was increased to 400 acres.
The farm was prime fertile land that was part of the Onkaparinga flood plain.
The main homestead was built in 1862.

John and Jane both died in 1877 and their son John took over the farm. John married in 1886 and the farm was renamed "Pingle Farm".
In 1996 the farm was added to the State Heritage Register.
The farm is now an abandoned homestead although the walls and much of the roofing is still intact.
