Geocache Description:

A difficult traditional cache on the Outeniqua Hiking trail (Knysna, South Africa). Booking for the trail is essential.
From the Sinclaire hut, follow the return trail (12km’s) towards Harkerville. At the 2km route marker, walk another 100-200m and leave the trail to your right. Placed on a stunning lookout over the Indian Ocean.
Please note, this hike is not timid nor for the unfit, but is well worth it - words cannot describe the scenery.

This one is for the hiker in you, and the reward is not just cache but the glorious scenery around you. Although the section of the trail that hosts the cache only requires a two day hike, a longer hike is possible. The famous Outeniqua Hiking trail has various starts end finishes from which to plan a longer hike.

This cache is placed on the second section of the Harkerville --> Sinclaire --> Harkerville route and was the last day of our 6 day hike that started at Millwood forest (another cache GCF90).

You will need to ensure that you book well in advance, due to the popularity of this hiking trail. The cache is located on the last day of the “Harkerville ? Sinclaire ? Harkerville” leg (2 days in itself), so be sure to include this section on your trip.

Leave the Sinclaire hut / parking and follow the Harkerville trail. Once you reach the 2km route marker, walk another 100-200m and leave the trail to your right (towards the ocean). A small “Lock-n-Lock” Tupperware container is placed about 50 paces from the trail path under a small pile of rocks. It is located on the top of a cliff looking out over the Indian Ocean with the valley on your back. You will find a small clearing, but you will have to turn your back to the ocean to notice the small rock pile (because it has a bit of bush as a crescent shape around it).

Treasure contents : Log book and pen, and a small caribiner with a compass attached.

Photo’s will follow shortly.
