A fairly easy, gentle uphill walk (about 20 mins) that zigzags up an old tramway track. (Or a shorter, steeper bushbash for those in a hurry.)
This track is part of Richards tramway called Richards curves (it will become obvious why as you follow the track along). A good place to start the walk is at S37 46.235 E145 45.405 or at the designated carpark near these co-ordinates. (There are pit toilets [BYO paper], and picnic facilities here.)
As you walk along the track you will notice where the track was excavated on the corners, this was done around 1923 when the curves replaced the original switches to make the logging trams quicker and less complicated. When you get to GZ, X marks the spot, the two rails have been uprouted and are on the left of the track, the cutting of the winch line + a cable can clearly be seen. (about 10m north of the cache). You can continue along Richards tramway and cross over Mississipi track if you have the time.
