I have wanted to plant a cache along this trail for a long time, but it has been closed for renovation. It has now reopened and is beautifully redone. Cache is just off the NYS Thruway exit 29A and a short distnce from a state historic site. (Not actually on grounds) Trails are extensive and lots of opportunities for new caches. This cache is a clear plastic nut jar with a blue lid. Includes small trade items and the usual logbook and pencil.
A possible spot to park is at trail head coords N 43D 01.730; W 74D 49.265 There is a "No Parking" sign, but I'm fairly certain that this is in reference to parking directly in front of the trail. I have seen vehicles parked along the road here planty. If you are squeamish about this, you can attempt to park at the Historic Landmark. The coords are: N 43D 01.641, W74D 49.046. Follow the signs to bike access and turn right at the gate. From there it is about 0.4 miles to the cache along a very nice trail. The spot officially opens May 10, and posted hours are Wednesday -Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 1-5. The lot is open more than that I believe. Cache is pretty open, about 25 feet or so off the trail.
