Gula Skolan, eller "Hemgården", som den kallades från början,
byggdes 1892. Det var pappersbruket som lät bygga Hemgården. Bruket
var den största arbetsgivaren i samhället och tog ansvar för
undervisningen , eller i varje fall dess lokaler. Från början fanns
här två klassrum och fyra lägenheter, i första hand avsedda för
lärare och i andra hand för brukets anställda.
1924 byggdes lägenheterna om till gymnastiksal.
1907 utbröt difteri och skolan fick stängas - men bara för att
bereda plats åt de som drabbats av sjukdomen eller var
smittobärare. Skolbänkarna ställdes ut och sängar fyllde i stället
klassrummen.
I dag rymmer lokalerna Lessebo kommuns vuxenutbildning och
kulturskola.

The Yellow School or "the Home Yard", as it was called from the
beginning, was built in 1892. It was the paper factory that built
the Home Yard. The factory was the biggest employer and took
responsibility for education, or at least for its buildings. From
the beginning there were two class rooms and four flats, in the
first place meant for teachers, and secondly for people employed by
the paper factory.
In 1924 the flats were re-built into a hall for physical
education.
In 1907 diphtheria broke out and the school was closed - but only
to make room for the people affected or the disease carriers. The
desks were carried out and were replaced by beds.
Today the houses contain the adult education and the Culture school
in Lessebo
