Do not park along 2nd street as it is illegal (actively enforced No Trespassing) to cross the track.
The CHP frowns on folks who park along I-80 for non-emergency reasons. Caching is not an emergency.
US Hwy 40, part of the Lincoln Highway in California, entered Davis from the east along Olive Drive. The 2 stops of this cache are located along a bike trail which runs between West Sacramento and Davis. It is, we believe, a pavement overlay over the old highway, You can see the old pavement on either side of the bike trail paving at various places along the way. The bike trail is an extension east from the east end of Olive Drive. Parking can be found at the east end of Olive Drive. The bike lanes continue west along Olive Drive.
Enjoy your walk along the Lincoln Highway.
The coordinates for Stage 2 may be found at the posted coordinates. This was, originally, a cache container from the Acorn’s Nutcase cache of travel bugs Chitter the Squirrel and Chatter the Squirrel. The original container floated away in heavy rains one winter and has been replaced several times. This replacement moves the final to the south side of the bike trail as the bushes on the north side have all been removed.
