Geocache Description:

How do I get there from here? The obvious path is *not* the one to use!

The cache is not hard to find once you reach it, but finding your way there may take a bit of thought. Most of the way in the terrain is pretty mild — more of a scenic walk actually. As you are approaching the cache itself it can get fairly muddy, due to the fact that the NYS Thruway Authority uses the area nearby to dump and drain silt that is dredged from the Erie Canal. It is not necessary or recommended to cross the silt dump itself to access the cache. If you find yourself considering wading into a swamp or weighing the risks of trudging through knee-deep mud you are on the wrong track. The last several meters are quite steep and overgrown, so I'd recommend sturdy shoes and appropriate outdoor clothing.

Needless to say, while it may look at first like the only way to this location is to stop on the shoulder of Interstate 390, don't do that! There is more than one better way there for you to find.

I put a small, plastic medal in the cache as a FTF prize.
